Leo Rossi is a legendary figure in the world of rock ‘n’ roll touring. Starting as a teenager from Southern California, Leo’s journey began when he snuck backstage during a high school trip—an act that sparked a lifelong dream.
From 1973 to 1975, Leo worked rock shows in Long Beach, including Led Zeppelin in 1975. Nicknamed “The Kid” by road crews, he joined The Who on tour right after high school.
Leo’s specialty was lighting design, and in 1976, he became head electrician for Fleetwood Mac. Over the next 20 years, he rose through the ranks to become their tour manager, helping run massive tours during the golden age of classic rock. He also worked with Chaka Khan, Bette Midler, Billy Idol, The Beach Boys, and more.
He and his crew became modern-day pirates—the Knights of Rock—keeping the rock ‘n’ roll tour engine running during the classic rock era.
After leaving Fleetwood Mac in 1990, Leo founded 5.1 Entertainment Group, a record label and band management company. In 2006, he launched “Knights of Rock”, a project to preserve the stories of classic rock road crews. This led to a book, When the Devil Smiles the Angels Frown, filled with wild and funny behind-the-scenes stories.
